Damai Seaside - Santubong, Sarawak, Malaysia

Destination: Vacation Inn Destination Damai BCH

After arriving on the Kuching Worldwide Airport, we went to Kuching City by taxi costing RM17.50 (USD5)! We stopped on the Crowne Plaza Riverside Resort for some shopping and lunch. Purchased mineral h2o, instant coffee, snacks, juices and biscuits from Parkson Supermarket. Then to Guardian Pharmacy for sun block, lotion, etc. We paid RM10 (USD2.80) for the identical taxi driver to watch for an hour outdoors the hotel. The journey from Kuching to Santubong lasted about 40 min. and cost a further RM40 (USD11)!!! A direct trip through the airport to Santubong price about RM47 (USD13)!

The Sarawak Cultural Village is a "must see" if visiting for that 1st time. This "living museum" encompass 7 homes depicting the heritage from the major racial groups in Sarawak. The native folks actually live in their respective houses! There is also a 45 min. cultural display - twice every day. Lunch is obtainable on the restaurant. The meals is not quite excellent and limited in selection - you will be offered a plate of rice, then select the dishes and compensate at the counter. Offered that there are only a limited number of restaurants from the Santubong location, we really can't fuss. Entrance payment is RM60 (USD17) for grownup and RM30 (USD8) for kids. Purchasing the entrance ticket from the resort is slightly less expensive at RM50 (USD13) for grownup and RM25 (USD6.fifty) for children - including transport. Following the visit, ask the ticket counter to phone to your free of charge pick-up back again to your location. Observe that the renowned Rainforest Globe Music Festival is held right here each and every July.

We experienced most of our meals in the location because of shortage of restaurants within the location. Dinner inside a close by Palm Garden seafood cafe is just not low-cost by local standard - RM160 (USD45) for a steam fish, butter prawns, oyster omelette, fried venison in ginger and fried noodles. We had been instructed that yet another eating place - Beach seafood - has better wide variety, less expensive, however the cafe isn't so presentable.

You can find 3 resorts on this spot and all are with private beaches. The beach on this destination is clean and also the drinking water is really crystal clear. Appears like the destination did attempt to distinct the stones on the beach - each facet of your bay is really rocky and there many stones around the sea mattress. It could be harmful throughout higher tide. The swimming pool is clean with a different landscape pool from the hill prime area.

We experienced a superior poolside space that is quite spacious and includes 2 double bed. You'll find also family chalets, hill side balcony rooms and hill top suites (Bidayuh (one of the tribe) -styled homes over-looking the South China Sea).!.!

Other actions within the place includes a 18-hole golf course created by Arnold Palmer, hiking up Mount Santubong and pay a visit to to a nearby fishing village.

On returning to your airport, you are able to call the identical taxi driver to choose you up for RM50 (USD14) - just remember to obtain the taxi driver's telephone amount when heading towards the resort. Asking the resort to organize for taxi will price much more.
